I have such a desire to Obey!

Jacob Kern Obey, Salvation

I have such a desire to obey. I wake up every morning and look to the Heavens and pray that today, today will be the day that every step I take and every breath I make will be for the glory and pure obedience to the Lord. By obeying his commands and doing His perfect will. Love my enemies and my neighbor more than I love myself. This is something I pray every day and every day I seem to fail at this.

Instead of my first step towards Him it seems it is towards the world. James 4:4, 1 John 2:15, and Matthew 6:24 all talk about if you love the world you are an enemy of God the Father.

What does this mean exactly? Does it mean that we or I cannot ever love the Father? Because let me tell you I have all kinds of idols in my life. An idol doesn’t have to be a golden calf or a sports hero no, it can be anything you put in-front of being obedient. It can be your family, your job, working out, food, or maybe even some kind of addiction. The bottom line is we all and when I say all I most defiantly include myself in this category, we all have idols in our life.

I can say without a doubt that I have multiple idols. I enjoy TV, Movies, Sports, and also working out. However, I have found myself on many occasions placing more value in these things than I do or did in putting the Lord first.

There was a man that came to earth around 2,000 years ago. His name was Jesus Christ. I am sure you have heard of him. Many people believe that he was just a good man or a prophet. I am here to say that if you think these things you would be correct, however, he was more than that. Jesus was the Son of God. He became a man so that he could suffer and be tempted by all the things we are tempted by. Things like: lust, pride, power, wealth, and even idols. However, Jesus Christ never fell into these temptations and never sinned. Jesus was perfect in every way. His purpose was to do the will of God the Father and because our Father in Heaven loves all of you so much, he had his son killed on a cross so that you and although as retched and sinful creatures that we are; who look to put idols in-front of the Father and are enemies of Him who is above. Instead, had Jesus his only son atones for our sins and made use clean and pure. This is so we can have hope, life, and salvation. Because of this one single act that changed the history of the world for both Jew and Gentile – we can have hope in all things.

To receive the free gift of Grace all you have to do is believe and repent. Ask for forgiveness and you will receive the gift of salvation and all your sins will be washed away forever.

If you do not know how to do this it is very simple. However, let me do my best to explain.

Bow your head in reverence (this is necessary, just shows respect) then say these words. “Dear Lord, I want to thank you for sending your son Jesus Christ to die on a cross for me. Please forgive me for my sins and take me into your kingdom so that I may have eternal life. I know that I am not deserving, I know that I am not worthy, however, because of what you did and that I have faith and that your grace is sufficient for me, I know that I will have eternal life. AMEN”

That is it, seriously, if you prayed that you are now a believe in Jesus Christ and have eternal life. The angels are singing and joyously celebrating!
